Understandings and Outcomes

Earth has taken many forms

People and creatures share this planet

Earth is wonderful in many ways and we depend on the Earth to keep living

People have a responsibility to the Earth

There are many ways to help the Earth

Art can bring attention to a cause, bring monetary support, bring information to the audience

If art brings attention, action, information and monetary support more protective measures will be taken to help the Earth and all of us

Students will hone fine motor skills and explore multiple mediums

Through discussion and visual representation students will understand and be able to explain various stages in the Earth's development.
Students will demonstrate in drawing and  painting some of the earliest ocean animals that predate dinosaurs.
Students will model in clay the growth of a volcano into new land, and then dinosaurs that once ruled the land.
Students will share in discussion and artwork some of their favorite wonders of nature and habitats.
Seeing some examples of hurt to the Earth, students consider and depict possible ways the Earth may look in the future.
Witnessing other artists in video and picture showing their love and support of the nature of Earth, students will brainstorm ways that Art and artists can help the Earth stay healthy.
Students show understanding of how they can help the Earth by drawing their 'Help the Earth' actions and caring for their Soil Sammies (grass seed creature cups).
